10:45 a.m. Virtual Worship Service
June 7 @ 10:45 am - 12:00 pm
An event every week that begins at 10:45 am on Sunday, repeating until June 28, 2020
FBC’s June worship series will focus on mental health, and is titled “Helping a Hurting Friend.” You’re invited to join us! Click the Big Red Button on our home page (you can’t miss it!) to go directly to the service, which begins at 10:45 a.m. Sunday mornings.
Here’s Pastor Matt’s description of the series:
“Several years ago, my mentor (and our one-time Interim Associate Pastor) Joe Kutter preached a sermon on the ways that we in the Church can help those who struggle with specific mental health issues. He invited mental health professionals from the congregation to help us learn “How to Help a Hurting Friend.” Last fall, our worship leadership felt the need to have a similar conversation in our own congregation, recognizing that the message from fifteen years ago is still needed.
“Little did we know then that we would find ourselves in a medical pandemic. Nor that our attempts to protect ourselves from that pandemic would exacerbate what has already been called a mental health pandemic. Isolation, complicated grief, and the inability to reach resources for mental health all add to the challenge for those working toward mental healing. The call of the worship leadership to discuss these issues could not be timelier.
“This June, we will spend four weeks asking the same question that Joe did all those years ago: “How Can I Help a Hurting Friend?” We, too, will invite mental health professionals from our congregation, as we seek to understand and help those who face such challenges. Join us each Sunday at 10:45 for virtual worship as we together explore these important manifestations of God’s grace and healing:
June 7: Grief (with Jesse Heilman, Music Therapist – Board Certified)
June 14: Anxiety & Depression (with Emily Reimer, MS, Licensed Professional Counselor)
June 21: Unhealthy Relationships with Family (with Nancy Bonner, former Licensed Specialist in Clinical Social Work)
June 28: Addiction (with Tim Bonner, Licensed Clinical Psychotherapist and former Licensed Masters Addiction Counselor)”
