7:00 p.m. Earthworks Team Purple Virtual Book Study
February 25 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm CST
(NOTE TIME CHANGE FROM PAST STUDIES, 7:00 p.m. instead of 6:00)
Earthworks Purple Team invites you to a discussion of Rising: Dispatches from the New American Shore by Elizabeth Rush. Get a copy of the book, put February 25 at 7:00 p.m. on your calendar, and sign up HERE if you’re not already on the list to receive the Zoom link to attend the meeting!
Rush weaves stories of Americans struggling to live in perilously changing circumstances along our shores. What do you do when your land is washing away, your home is repeatedly damaged by storms, or your water source is infiltrated by advancing saltwater? We’ll emphasize the stories concerning Isle de Jean Charles in Louisiana and in South Florida.
The book was a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize and won the National Outdoor Book Award.
You can purchase this book from Milkweed Editions, an independent publisher; or, if you’d like to give some love to our local booksellers, you can also find it at The Raven here in Lawrence! (They have curbside pickup, and if you’re in Lawrence, they even offer free delivery to your doorstep.)
It is also available as an eBook checkout from the Lawrence Public Library.
A Zoom link will go out to those who are already on the Earthworks Purple Team mailing list.
