If you know the way and want to drive yourself, we plan to be arrive at the farm at 12:00 p.m. We’ll carpool or caravan to their location near Perry. Windstone farm is grounded in care for the earth. The farm currently hosts over 200 fruit and nut trees, hundreds of berries and thousands of herbs and flowers with more added each year. In addition to creating a diversified farm producing human food, Windstone also hosts a section of native prairie containing 100+ prairie species, some of which are very rare. Windstone is off grid for electricity, depending on a solar array and batteries for all its power. It’s advised to wear good walking shoes and a hat, bug spray and sunscreen. The tour involves going up and down hills also.
This FBC Earthworks event combines the emphases of a number of the Earthworks teams’ interests: Team Blue, the nature lovers, Team Green, the “re-sourcers”, Team Orange, the sustainers, and Team Purple, the scholars!
