Rev. Cheryl Harader
We bring our prayers to you as offerings of love for you and for our neighbors.
You give us a hunger and thirst for what is right and just. And we ask that you guide us more deeply into acts of justice for your name’s sake.
You call us to love kindness and mercy. And we turn to you for the wisdom and grace to touch the lives of our neighbors in kindness and mercy.
O, God, you desire that we walk humbly with you. And we admit that we often say we want the same, but we also admit that we need the power of your Holy Spirit to learn to walk humbly with you.
Please help us to walk in strength with you as we walk with our church community, with the community of Lawrence, with our state, our country, and the world. And, God, thank you for always walking with us. Thank you for your promise to be with us always.
We pray for your church in all places, that we might bear witness to your reign of justice, peace and joy.
And, God, we pray that your justice might shine like the sun as we continually seek your reign first, above all else.
Grant that we may walk humbly with you this week in justice, simplicity, mercy and joy.
In our hope that justice may someday roll down like a mighty river, we offer to you the prayer that Jesus taught us, “Our Father, who art in heaven hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory forever. Amen.
