Once again this year, we join with churches around the world in celebrating the Season of Creation, an intentional acknowledgment of God’s power and glory shown through Creation, and an honest look at our calling of humanity in Genesis to care for that Creation. This year, we follow the international theme of “Let Justice and Peace Flow,” following the prophetic command in Amos:
I hate, I despise your festivals, and I take no delight in your solemn assemblies. Even though you offer me your burnt offerings and grain offerings, I will not accept them, and the offerings of well-being of your fatted animals I will not look upon. Take away from me the noise of your songs; I will not listen to the melody of your harps. But let justice roll down like water and righteousness like an ever-flowing stream. (Amos 5.21–24)
Throughout the weeks of August, we will together explore Scriptural texts that call us to steward and delight in Scripture, sing from our volume of traditional Creation hymns, and perhaps even be drawn into worship via our own “ever-flowing stream!” You are invited to join us (and invite a friend!)
