
Looking to buy veggie and/or herb plants for your garden? Buy them at FBC’s 2nd Annual Garden for Good plant sale and you’ll also have a part in bringing clean water and medical care to areas of Nicaragua that need it, via FBC’s partnership with AMOS Health and Hope!
- When: Saturday, May 2 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
- Where: First Baptist Church parking lot, 1330 Kasold Drive, Lawrence, KS

We’ll have around 1,000 beautiful garden-ready plants like tomatoes, peppers, herbs, strawberries, and more (hand-started in seedling pots and hand-transplanted into 4″ pots by FBC volunteers)—4″ pots for sale at $5 each! We’ll also have repurposed garden tools and supplies for sale. (What will be available is a surprise yet to reveal itself and depends on what is donated, but last year we sold things like tomato cages, rakes, shovels, trowels, a floppy gardening hat, yard art…etc. etc. If you have things to donate, see the bottom of this page for a drop-off schedule!)

Nicaraguan Food for Sale!
Come hungry—there’ll be delicious Nicaraguan food for sale, with Nicaraguan music for ambience!

Edible Landscaping & Gardening by Amber Thurman
Amber Thumann will provide an on-site design consultation for up to 2 hours at your location. The consultation includes brainstorming ideas, discussing options, and working through how best to accomplish your goals in the space that you have. All notes, design sketches, and creative work done during that time remains with you. Retail value of $100.
Amber is an engineer who has spent the last 20 years studying and practicing sustainable, local food production. She has 15 years of experience in adult education and she currently teaches Permaculture Design at the University of Kansas and through the Kansas Permaculture Institute. She also leads the educational programming for KPI and co-chairs the board of directors. Amber is a homesteader, urban farmer, and mother with 20 years of experience in sustainable living. She has practiced urban and broad acre permaculture, built an off-grid home and is now building a homestead near Wichita, Kansas. Amber lives an evolving life focused on the principle that many small changes add up over time – “Every day, little up”. She has consulted on projects ranging from small community gardens and urban backyards up to 3700 acre ranch prairie restorations.
Custom Garden Design by Mandy Enfield at Flora Obscura—“The Art of Enchanted Gardening”
This service will include a 1 hour consultation, plant list with alternate options and sourcing ideas, and a hand drawn plan that can be used to create a custom garden that feels high-end, well-designed, and cohesive. Claim before September to take advantage of great fall planting weather. Value is $400.00 and valid through February 2027.
Handmade Raised Bed Planter
Planter is 8′ x 4′ x 2′ and created from red cedar wood and galvanized steel. The wood has a 20 year lifespan. Delivery of bed is included.
Donate Garden Supplies and Tools to the Sale!
Have extra garden supplies? Let your hoses, pots, trowels, patio furniture, and whatever other relevant supplies come be a part of the Garden for Good sale!
Here’s how and when to drop your items* off at FBC:
- Where: FBC, 1330 Kasold Drive, in the courtyard (look for building manager Neal Purvis if you need further direction or help unloading)
- When: Friday, 5/1 from 12p–4p or Saturday morning, 5/2 before 10a.
We can come pick up larger items from your location if you are unable to transport them. (Subject to volunteer availability, but we’ll do our best!)
*Please be considerate and don’t bring broken or non-functioning items. Gently used items are welcome.
