A nourishing home-cooked lunch is served at the Lawrence Interdenominational Nutrition Kitchen (L.I.N.K.) four days of the week (Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, Sunday). The meal is served at the First Christian Church (FCC) in downtown Lawrence. All are welcome to take part in the meal; typically 125 guests are served.
Various church and civic groups take turns to prepare and serve L.I.N.K. meals. FBC teams up with Peace Mennonite Church (PMC) to provide the noon meal on the first Sunday of each month. On the Saturday before the first Sunday, FBC and PMC volunteers gather in the FBC kitchen to prepare the meal. Volunteers are needed to help wash and chop vegetables, mix and combine ingredients, cook, bake, wash dishes, clean up, etc. Then on Sunday itself, a smaller team is needed to transport the meal to FCC and to serve it to our guests.
