The Gospel of Shalom: A New and Very Old Word

Our guest preacher today, and for the next two Sundays, is the Rev. Dr. Stephen D. Jones. Rev. Dr. Jones, an ABC pastor, served coast to coast throughout his 53-year ministry until he retired in March, 2025, after having served for 12 years as co-pastor of The Beloved Community of First Baptist Church of KCMO.  Steve and Jan have three granddaughters who play an active part in their lives!  In 2023–24, Steve served as President of the Great Rivers Region of the ABC.  Steve is the author of 9 books, most recently, a children’s storybook entitled Jesus and the Howling Monster, Rhodes Books. He wrote Learning Jesus published by Wipf Press in 2021.  The preaching series for Lawrence is based on Steve’s year-long research called, “The Gospel of Shalom.”
